What is New Jersey Family Preservation Services?
New Jersey Family Preservation Services (FPS) is an intensive in-home treatment program
designed to stabilize families whose children
are at imminent risk of placement, or, are in the process of reunifying home from
placement. Some of the hallmarks of the FPS program include:
- Engaging the family within 24 hours of receipt of referral
- Available 24 hours/7 days a week to the family
- Average of 8-10 hours of face-to-face contact per week with a family, with a minimum
of 5 hours to a maximum of 20 hours per week
- Interventions last 4 to 8 weeks
- Families are provided services on a voluntary basis
Referrals to the program are closed to DYFS families who meet program criteria.
